Hulk Hogan Cause of Death: Wrestling Icon Dies of Cardiac Arrest
Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan died at the age of 71 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Clearwater, Florida police confirmed Hogan's death on July 24. In a statement, officials said firefighters and police responded to a medical call at 9:51 a.m. ET in Clearwater Beach on Florida's Gulf Coast, near Tampa.
Authorities explained the call was due to cardiac arrest, and Hogan was pronounced dead at 11:17 a.m.
The statement read: "Clearwater resident Terry Bollea, also known as Hulk Hogan, was treated by Fire and Rescue before being transported by Sun Star to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead."
Police confirmed there was no suspicion of foul play or suspicious activity.
Hogan's death comes after E! reported. It was reported in June that Hogan had undergone neck surgery, and that the procedure was "successful." Rumors about Hogan's health have since circulated on social media, and his longtime friend Jimmy Hart stated on July 22 that he was "in excellent health." Hogan has suffered several injuries during his wrestling career, most notably to his back.
Hogan is considered one of the most popular wrestlers of all time, instrumental in the rise of wrestling's popularity and considered one of the first prominent figures. He has influenced many stars who have joined the industry since him.
He was a six-time WWE Champion and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, once in 2005 and once in 2020 as part of the New World Order.
