The fire engulfed an abandoned warehouse occupied by dozens of people in a suburb of Barcelona, killing at least two and injuring about 20 others.

Reports say that many of the handlers using the three-storey warehouse in Badalona were migrants.

Firefighters have found two bodies and some of the injured are in critical condition. Fire now, but the building is not stable.

It is not clear how the fire started overnight. Dozens managed to escape.

Medical sources said that seven survivors are being treated for serious injuries in hospital and another 12 at least suffering from minor injuries.

David Burrell, a senior firefighter in the Spanish port city, said parts of the warehouse collapsed after the fire and there was a risk that it might recede, so his teams were going very carefully through the wreckage.

The Catalan authorities say that there are two setters in the abandoned warehouse for at least seven years.

In Badalona District Mayor Javier García Albiol, at least 60 people managed to escape the fire.
